CORMedNet

heatmed-cormednet

CORMedNet is a collaborative initiative that aims to gather information on distribution, population dynamics and genetics of key species dwelling in the Mediterranean coralligenous assemblages. Besides CORMedNet aims promoting the adoption of standardized protocols for the acquisition on demographic data.

The data compiled in CorMedNEt database was obtained from published scientific papers, grey literature and technical reports using different searching strategies in ISI Web of Knowledge and Google Scholar. The dataset compiles information about the most important habitat-forming species of the Mediterranean Sea, such as Corallium rubrum or Paramuricea clavata, including their distribution, demographic parameters and mass mortality events observed at discrete events generally related to warming episodes. The dataset provides information about survey year, geographic coordinates, protection status of the geographic location, depth distribution range, species phylum, species name, type of study conducted (distribution, demographic, population genetics or other), sampling methods and different demographic parameters when they are available (density, colony size, recruitment and mortality rates).
